What is parent coaching?
Coaching is often compared to counselling or therapy, and there
are similarities. . Counsellors and therapists deal with things
that have happened in the past which prevent the person moving forward
and give advice or recommend actions to resolve or circumvent the
issue. Coaching focuses on the present and on moving forward, with
the coach acting as facilitator, helping the client work towards
a solution by employing powerful questions, giving 100% support,
encouragement and motivation.
Do you give advice?
No. Coaches believe that each person has the ability to work out
their own solutions to fit their particular set of circumstances,
given non-judgemental encouragement and support.
Is it confidential?
Totally. We work to a strict Code of Ethics which is available on
request.
How is it done?
We offer individual and group parent coaching, or a combination
of both. Individual coaching is carried out face to face or on the
phone. Clients choose how often sessions are held, but it is advisable
to work on a weekly or fortnightly basis in order to keep up momentum
and motivation and build upon success. Each session typically
lasts for about one hour and is client led.
How many sessions would I need?
This depends upon the challenges faced by the client. Some people
find that a few sessions are sufficient, whilst others need longer.
Why should I choose parent coaching and how will it help me?
